As the arguably most popular trio within electronic dance music to date, Swedish House Mafia sat in for Pete Tong on last night’s edition of BBC Radio 1’s world renowned Essential Selection show, airing prime-time on Friday’s. Still riding on the remnants from 2009’s unrivaled release of Leave The World Behind, the trio propelled themselves through 2010 with the devastating force of the vigorous One and their Fall contender Miami 2 Ibiza alongside Tinie Tempah. They have branded themselves as an uplifting, energetic and influential group of superstars and entered 2011 as nothing but. Going viral with the radio hit, Save The World, alongside fairly unknown vocalist John Martin, Swedish House Mafia hit the decks at BBC Radio 1 headquarters with widespread acclamation under their belt and a heavyweight bunch of forthcoming anthem’s aboard.

Opening up rather gently with a couple of tracks, firmly householding camp Swedish House Mafia and their sets lately, the Swede’s continued with the uncovering of the title for their next single release with two fifth’s of Pendulum, Knife Party which we now can reveal is Antidote. Giving Dirty South’s newest anthem, named Walking Alone, an exclusive first radio play by selecting it this week’s essential new tune, the show proceeded as the regally influential producer, Axwell, joined in behind the wheels to feature, not one, not two but a whooping three upcoming super hits – a new single from Michael Calfan, the recognized Trio from Arty and Matisse & Sadko and Thomas Gold’s anticipated Axtone release, Sing 2 Me.

Followed by a setting of three memorable tunes, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello also headlined their current top tip’s in a short, intense minimix each that covered new tracks from AN21, Max Vangeli, Angello himself, A-Trak, Cazzette and many others.

In summation, the sit-in was nothing, if not a fulfilled and extraordinary success and also covered the yet to be released Swedish House Mafia remix on Coldplay, the upcoming Third Party take on Otherside as well as the recently released Alesso remix of Good Love to name a few. Not only was a stellar selection of tracks offered, but countless humorous anecdotes and tales were frequently serving the pauses, courtesy of the energetic threesome.

Calvin Harris – Feel So Close [Sony] /w (Technologic) ID

  • I expected more, but it was still okay. I enjoyed Axwells set and these three: Chilly Gonzalez – Knight Moves [Phantasy]
St. Germain – Rose Rouge [Blue Note]
Emeli Sandé – Heaven (Nu:tone Remix) [Virgin]

  • so many good tracks here, Whisper, Walking Alone, Cazzette’s tracks… and great memories with the Influential tracks !
The Axwell Mix is gold !

  • it was great

  • Apparently, the song by Matisse & Sadko is a trio with Arty !

Not 2, all 3!! My new track with Matisse & Sadko also played by @swedishousemfia tonight on BBC Radio 1! WIN :)

  • this show really blew away my mind, was better than all my expections before. I thought it would be just another SHM hits roundup like their sets..but this was really good.

Only dissapointed in Steve’s SHMvsSHM choice..cmon..whisper, really? he played that 10 min before aswell.

  • Bra skit! Gillar att boysen typ fattade att dom blev liiiite för ”poppiga” med save the world så dom teamade up med knife party och slaskade ihop något jävligt smutsigt.
    They have my approval again

  • im really happy for the new Arty vs. Matisse & Sadko track, just as well the new Dirty South single. im a bit disappointed with ”Sing 2 Me”, and i thought its a collab with Axwell, but seeems its a Thomas Gold single.

as for Whisper, yeah, that was weird, he should have played People of the night at least… :D

  • oh and i thought we will get more information about that ”ID” track with the Technologic acapella. such a banger! i guess its Swanky Tunes or/& Hard Rock Sofa

  • wonderful post! Great job!

  • ORGASM- Arty vs. Matisse & Sadko – ID [White Label]

  • Hade gärna hört mer av Thomas Gold – Sing 2 Me. Men det man hörde var ju riktigt bra!

  • Technologic ID is defo no Swanky Tunes production..way to fast BPM for that.

    Probably a Seb track

  • Jan Driver-låten!!!! FYFAN vilken jävla låt

  • Michael Calfan – Resurrection, ojojoj!

  • Whisper är förjävla bra faktiskt.

  • Against the quality tracks, Whisper sounds like a 12 year old made a pop song

  • @maxx haters will hate. And you sound like a really negative one!

I think Whisper is pretty neat and clean!

Overall was Michael Calfan – Resurrection insane and Arty Vs Matisse & Sadko will be a big big one!

  • Steve’s mix surprised me, back to the oldschool!

    also Seb’s bootlegs were amazing

  • [...] nya låt Antidote tillsammans med Knife Party. För att lyssna på hela sändningen gå vidare till beatmyday för att ladda ner [...]

  • @partrik no, it’s just a fact.
Listen to an Axwell or Dirty South production, you can easily hear the quality and with how much effort the track has been made. But the AN21 & Max Vangeli track are just not that good. I mean they’re still very young and don’t have the production experience and so on.

  • I can assure you that the ”ID w/ Daft Punk – Technologic (Acappella)” is an Alesso track.
That kid is on fire right now!
Remember who told you first :)

  • the best track overall was the thomas gold and axwell sing to me i mean did you hear it that track is going to destroy the clubs the melody the drop it just sounds amazing i cant wait to see thomas gold oct 7 at pacha nyc

  • @ IT

doubt it. Only SHM, Seb and Axwell played it so far afaik. If it would be an Alesso track he would surely played it out some times

  • Reupload the link? it doenst work

  • Anonymous: The link does indeed work..

  • @Anton

I think he’s talking about the zippyshare link in your post.

  • Mads: Me too :) It was working when I answered..

  • Track number 4 is incorrect.
It’s actually Axwell – Heart Is King (DBN Remix) [Axtone] w/ Axwell – Heart Is King [Axtone] w/ R.E.M – Losing My Religion (Acappella) [WEA] w/ Ferry Corsten – Punk (Arty ‘Rock-N-Rolla’ Remix) [Flashover]

  • Yeah, and its actually Feel So Close (Benny Benassi Remix) w/ Alesso – RYH… but who cares..! :)

  • Amazing effectiveness across this excellent web presence. Now i appreciated looking at this, and thus likely will reappear repeatedly, interested in just about anything brand new.
