Following the immense success from their previous collaborative effort that is Alive, Dirty South, Thomas Gold and Kate Elsworth combine forces again for an as evenly impressive follow-up single. Reminiscent of its predecessor with the drop’s near to cacophonic chords, characteristic cut-off filters and an overall vividness in conjunction with a soothing and emotional break-down fitting flawlessly onto the silky voice of Sydney DJ and singer-songwriter Kate Elsworth, the follow-up to ‘Alive’, named Eyes Wide Open, is, whether it likes it or not, due to make wonders on the global charts. Fresh off the release of Walking Alone, ‘Eyes Wide Open’ is the sixth, top-notch single off Dirty South’s Phazing Records label thus far.
From the looks of previous efforts, the now Los Angeles residing Dirty South and Germany’s Thomas Gold seem to have found themselves combined making a perfect match as far as the fusion of their distinct signature sound goes. As to why the label head of Phazing, whose advancement in 2011 involves giving Skylar Grey’s Invisible and Coming Home some serious remix works, dropped in DJ Mag’s top 100 DJ’s poll this year in comparison to 2010 is yet to be answered since his discography to date consists of nothing short of spot-on Summer anthems. And as if one creative tunesmith in a track wasn’t enough, the man responsible for remixes the likes of Blow Up, Set Fire To The Rain, Lady Gaga’s Judas and Sander van Doorn’s Reach Out in 2011 as well as having the sought-after Sing2Me coming up on Axtone returns for his third Phazing installment, coming off ‘Alive’ and ‘Areena’.
‘Eyes Wide Open’ is due to release January 23rd.
