Brought forth by the hands of Axwell, head honcho of Axtone Records and one third of the wildly famed Swedish House Mafia, a new, jaw-dropping single from the French protégé of Bob Sinclar and the fellow Yellow Productions label, Michael Calfan, has dropped onto the digital market – only to pursue the infinite crusade of its ever so distinct characteristics and the prodigy himself. Coming on the heels of his remix on When You Got Love in June, Calfan’s liking of the genuine sounds of the piano has been the one thing paving his way into the Dj and producer who, today, stand dibbled firmly on the list of producers to watch soar significantly in near future with his qualitative signature tweak to the original piano tones. And his eccentric sound seem to have come in handy in the production of the 22nd single to ever have walked the prestigious halls of Axtone. What starts off intriguingly with an electric guitar-sounding lead later transits perfectly into Calfan’s infamous synth filled sound to chant the simple and systematic yet utterly catchy melody. But what stands out in Resurrection is not the fist-pumping melody, nor is it the glorious bass lines. The Frenchman’s incredible production ability and creativeness come forward unitedly in its natural grace to firmly complement the dominant lead with an array of countless instruments, the sounds of a tamburine being the most notable of them all.
The appropriately entitled Michael Calfan debut on Axtone comes in a better time than any; to resurrect the record label of Axwell after its six month break with beats capable of making any ground shatter. And Michael Calfan would surely be the first in line to forgiveness in case buried bodies were to succumb their deadness to resurrect and regain their life above ground.
Nevertheless, the new release from Axtone Records comes recutted by label head Axwell himself, who lends his dexterous hands for a slightly revamped club version, returning from the release of the classical Heart Is King.
And if your aural hollows are not convinced of the quite infectious sounds of Resurrection, be sure to take notice of the beautifully crafted artwork above.
