Now well acquainted with the grounds of fame and with a captivating, sing-along anthem in form of Levels to his name, Avicii’s swift rise in acclaim for 2011 has been nothing short of spectacular. As an undeniable star amid modern clubland, Stockholm-bred Tim Bergling, has made some unignorable marks on the industry, setting a new standard of proficiency and talent for synth-driven Progressive House music across the globe. Alongside the successful launch of his well-received monthly podcast and label by the name ‘Le7els’, have added to such landmark releases as Fade Into Darkness, Blessed, Sweet Dreams, Sunshine, the remix of Drowning and a highly anticipated, forthcoming collaboration with young Dutch talent Nicky Romero.
Now teaming up with the rising Aussie double-team of Miriam and Olivia, better known as Nervo, for another synth-tinged club and festival gem of anthemic proportions, the rise of our fellow Swedish 22 year old prodigy continues to show no signs of slowing down. Unfolding the diverse voices of the twin songwriters and Avicii’s well-crafted thumping kicks to complement a set of enchanting synth-filled leads, You’re Gonna Love Again is set to be one of 2012’s larger outings. More info on this as we get it.

Comfortably poised as one of Holland’s most prolific Electronic artists to date, Fedde Le Grand has remained well and truly at large where House music is concerned. With an arsenal of well-received bangers and that insatiable chart-topper that stole the hearts of clubbers across the globe back in 2006, his Flamingo Recordings imprint continues to source wave after wave of well-bred international Dance music. Already established as key players on the international circuit, Sweden’s Johan Wedel and German producer Deniz Koyu, donning a noteworthy amount of steam to this forthcoming Flamingo release, have seen a truly positive influx of attention from the international House scene, using their hard-hitting remode of James Blunt’s Dangerous as a positive nod towards the diverse potential of their collaborative efforts as Europe’s latest promising House explosion.
But never one to disappoint in the face of musical development, Fedde returns alongside essential new blood Deniz Koyu and Johan Wedel for some serious action for 2012. In a tough yet melodic outing of rising Progressive House and chugging synth leads, the European trio find themselves well and truly in their element with an intense take on a genre that Le Grand has not only mastered, but set the standard to an all-time-high for. In a promising tip to the rising Swedish and German appendages of this latest banger for Flamingo Recordings, an injection of fresh talent doesn’t seem to have hurt Fedde in his quest to take dance floors across the globe by storm. At this rate, the task will be an easy one for Holland’s dynamically convergent Housemaster.
‘New Day’ is set for release late January or early February via Flamingo.

Where some British artists have made incredibly positive noise on the international scene this year, Tim Mason has overtaken all competition with one stiff blow. Having donned one of the summer’s most sought after anthems The Moment to Size Records, his renowned studio magic has been legitimised with a global romp of some of the finest clubs on offer, packing the same heat as his early anthem for Steve Angello since it’s release back in March. Add further remix duties for David Guetta, Lucid, Pnau and Nadia Ali, 2011 has forged something of a dynamic following for the latest Electronic Dance music master to emerge from Brighton.
Rich in rising melodies and atmospheric chords from the outset, Mason’s second coming for Size Records matches the relentless energy of his Miami Winter Music Conference stormer with little hesitation. Mustering all his force for another banger fit for both the club floor and the vivacious energy of a packed out festival crowd, Anima further asserts the British producer’s hold on global Dance music with an anthem set to champion Size Records and its extending musical empire.

Appointed one of 2011’s essential break-throughs according to the powerhouse that is Tiësto, Ken Loi has proven to be a producer worthy keeping an extra close watch upon as we steadily approach the welcoming of another new year. Kicking things off in 2011 with the very official and heavy-stepping remix for Kaskade and Tiësto’s Only You, Ken Loi’s year of 2012 seems to be starting in an as evenly impressive manner as Loi previews his new effort with vocals from Miami-based Zashanell, whom is known for doing the vocal duty for GTA’s U&I release on Mixmash. Embracing a tad more peaceful sound as opposed to his harder opening of 2011, All It Takes is embellished by the captivating voice of Zashanell to hover softly atop the progressive, delightful piano tones and some bumpy drum combinations.
‘All It Takes’ is out in early 2012.

Adding to Italy’s already prominent name for heavy-footed club music, recently rebranded House stallion TradeLove follows up the popular Pum Back for LoudBit and previously well-received offerings for Spinnin Records with a warming Tech remodel of Richard Dinsdale’s Artic Circle. Now hailed as the leader of Britain’s new-school Tech House entourage and with firm support coming in from Toolroom Records for 2011, his LoudBit offering beckoned an injection of European flavour that his Italian peer turned label mate has become somewhat synonymous with over the years. Rife with skanking riffs and operatic leads, Dinsdale’s original is given the same magical touch as previous club favourite ‘Rock The Casbah’ to deliver an exotic flare to the realms of Tech House.
‘Artic Circle’ is out now on LoudBit Records.

Following a year of iconic success for the Swedish superstar who’s been seen establishing himself as a prominent label head of his own Axtone Records and an essential third of the successful trio Swedish House Mafia, Axwell has further thrived from the positive vibes surrounding his reputation of being a favourite amongst House music fans across the globe. Coming out with the acclaimed and eagerly-awaited Heart Is King in April, two well-received remixes of Blow Up and One Look as well as Save The World and Antidote under his, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso’s still rapidly ascending Swedish House Mafia moniker, Axwell has fortified himself as one of the key players in 2011.
With another successful year closing in, Ax rounds this year off with a high-quality video and audio live stream from the DJ-favourited Sunburn Festival in Goa, India.

Chuckie’s Dirty Dutch Records, run by those in charge of Cr2 Records, has had a remarkable year, to say the least. With a total of three extensive compilations out this year and with label honcho DJ Chuckie securing a bright future for Dirty Dutch, this week’s edition of Cr2’s radio show features a sought-after flash-back on 2011’s music outlet as far as Dirty Dutch Records are concerned. There is no denying the stronghold Tiësto has on global Dance music. As a blazing beacon of first-rate contributions to global Dance music, his watchful gaze over the realms of his craft has seen him remain increasingly relevant across the entirety of his seventeen-year recording career. Packing out Privilege Ibiza with crowds 10,000 strong on a weekly basis, while his contributions to the soundtrack of this year’s Mission Impossible sequel suggests that it is more than just the globes ecstatic clubbers that are paying attention. Even the most bitter of rivals could not deny that as far as consistent contribution and ecstatic fandom are concerned, Tiësto comes second to none.
Unrecognisable in sound compared with the original Dance icon that set ablaze the Olympic Games in Athens back in 2004 with a euphoric display of athletic Trance wizardry, Tiësto’s early Christmas present carry’s on his more recent grasp on the Housier side of affairs. For this soulful vocal explosion of emotive builds and hard-hitting synthesisers, Tiësto attempts bridges the gap between traditional and Progressive House, using the emotional charged vocals of Anastacia to bring the remnants of House’s heyday to his up-in-the-air onslaught of conceptual club floor chivalry. While sure to be sour milk to those still reeling in the memories of his Trance-orientated heyday, What Can We Do (A Deeper Love) attempts to bring a genuine sense of progression to the table and while not bragging the life changing afterthoughts of his previous work, it is a sure indicator that there is some steam left in the original Dutch super producer.
Where Tiësto attempts to bridge this pivotal gap, renowned British duo Third Party plunge deep into the energetic Progressive House vibes that have established them as firm favourites for the likes of Size Records following beloved releases Duel and ‘Release’. With some of the globes biggest festivals under their belt and an appearance alongside Swedish House Mafia for their Masquerade Motel residency at Pacha Ibiza, Third Party leave 2011 as one of Britain’s most hotly anticipated House assets. Their take on ‘What Can We Do (A Deeper Love)’, then, commits to the Progressive vibes hinted within Tiësto’s original, dealing in bigger builds and constructive melodic play to deliver an incredibly promising nod to the future for this bright rising House force on the apex of what could be an essential leap into the limelight for 2012.
‘What Can We Do (A Deeper Love)’ is out now worldwide, following a territory restricted release through Google Music last month, via Musical Freedom along with the remix from Third Party (now available in full quality).

Having seen his unique, progressive sound grace the likes of Deadmau5′ Strobe and Calvin Harris’ Feel So Close for acclaim amongst such pioneers as Martin Solveig and others, Eden Anderson, better known as Special Features, returns to release his official take on Dada Life’s Happy Violence, which just went victorious out of the recent remix contest hosted by the Swede’s themselves. Reminiscent of his aforementioned offerings in its playful and melodious appeal, the London producer gives the original’s rather hard-lined track a full-blown remix work to emerge as another trademark for the one producer we deem to be blowing up in 2012. Using the near to cacophonic sounding vocal on behalf of Johanna Berglund, known for being a part of the Swedish pop quartet Le Kid, to his utmost advantage, Anderson’s ground-breaking production qualities are screened in the best of ways yet again as another ravishing blend of playful synth chords and infectious baselines comes to light.
The Special Features remix of ‘Happy Violence’ is out now via So Much Dada.

As the year of 2011 draws to an end and building excitement and anticipation for what’s to go down over the next 12 months, Torondo based Mark Mendes combines forces with fellow Montreal duo Paris & Simo for 2011’s last release from Starter Records. And as the track title would suggest, this collaborative effort from three talented Canadians showcases a graceful charisma in its summerish synth filled lead and a certain powerfulness in its complementary bottom layers that, combined, make for Aura to be an optimal emittance of euphoria. Although things were left quite uncertain in terms of Mendes’ release of Telos and the take on Someone Like You with Thomas Gold earlier this Fall, the Starter Records label head wanders a tad out of his ”techy” comfort zone to team up with the Canada duo known by their recent appearances on Musical Freedom and Revealed for the six minutes of pure progressive house bliss that are Aura and to finish the year off in glamour.
