After a two year residency in Stockholm, Eric Prydz, also known as Pryda, Cirez D and more, brings his annual Christmas tradition to the second biggest city of Sweden, Gothenburg, along with a string of noteworthy Swedish electronic dance music exports for a night that is looking to be his best Christmas show in Sweden to date.
Responsible for behemoths like Pjanoo, Niton, Melo and the recent 2Night amongst countless others, the now 35 year old Dj and producer is a mastermind in its natural grace. Representing integrity, brilliance and an admirable awareness of all things producing, the Stockholm-born powerhouse of a producer is a loyal and pioneering mercenary of electronic dance music and also, by many, even regarded as a living legend of his craft. Coming off his recent, third EPIC live show, which was attended by a crowd of 11 000 people, the acknowledgement of Prydz’ impressive live shows continues to grow as the projection of his third Christmas show is in full swing. Also hot off a signing with EMI, which has been making for assumptions regarding the fact that his debut artist album might not be too far away now, there is quite the buzz surrounding camp Prydz nowadays, just in time for him to sell out the vast halls of Svenska Mässan on Christmas Day.
Renowned for building his foundations with the assistance of his dexterous ability to create playful merges of fierce club sounds and his signature way of filtering and chopping up vocals, Johan Wedel is a prime example of the immense talent many young Swedish producers are in possession of. Since his game-changing remix to Lose Control came out in post-summer of 2010 has the club music scene witnessed Wedel’s productions score plays from the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Tiësto, David Guetta and more and pioneer a soon to be released collaboration with Fedde Le Grand and Deniz Koyu to consequently make up an avant-guard of aspiring producers across the globe.
Following on from a short but intense appearance on national television in early November, the sterling Refune Records representative Linus Eklöw, professionally known as Style Of Eye, is also making for a Christmas night in honour of the most outright of modern dance music sounds. His distinguished style and prestigious reputation has paved the way for numerous installments on the record label of Sebastian Ingrosso, most recently with the tremendous We Are Boys, and trademarks such as Antidote, Girls, Grounded, Sexx and more over the past few years.
With the remarkably timeless Teenage Crime remode alongside Axwell under his belt, Henrik Berntsson, better known as just Henrik B, is another prominent character amongst Sweden’s distinct House music export. Recognized by his eccentric productions and downright humorous personality, the Skövde-bred producer has become an intriguing act to follow make appearances on David Tort’s The Mansion label and Armada this year. Henrik B is also in possession of a wide pallette of aces up his sleeve, including a Dirty South-premiered collaborative effort with Niklas Gustavsson and an upcoming single release on Axwell’s Axtone Records.
Although he is merely just a freshman in terms of producing, 18 year old Franz Novotny is already showcasing a wealth of production proficiency. Signed with the down-under based Vicious Recordings, the very same label that secured Avicii as one in their artist roster a few years back, and seeing recurrent support from the likes of Kaskade, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike to name a few fall in favour of the diverse and dynamic style of his two Crunch and Big Bang singles, Novotny is an aspirant worthy of keeping a close watch upon.
