Pete Tong – Essential Selection – 20-01-2012

From the looks of his almost 21 year as a prime-time radio host on BBC Radio 1, Pete Tong has continuously stepped his game up as the possibly most legendary radio host in Electronic Dance Music history. For his third Essential Selection in 2012 then, Tong offers another brilliant showcase that touches on pretty much all the genres within Electronic Dance Music. What was kicked off with Madeon’s soon to be released Icarus and Dirty South, Thomas Gold and Kate Elsworth’s Eyes Wide Open later turned out to be another superb selection on Pete Tong’s behalf. Last night’s episode also included world premieres of the new Erick Morillo and Eddie Thoneick collaboration, If This Ain’t Love, the next release off Axtone, titled In My Mind, the Zedd remix for Skrillex and The Doors’ ground-breaking collaborative effort Breakn’ A Sweat as well as one of John Dahlback’s forthcoming Toolroom singles among many others.

Also, Nicky Romero joins in to tell us a bit about his musical background and his relationship with the Dutch DJ’s as well as feature a few of his own tracks for this week’s 15 minutes of fame while The 2 Bears called in on the phone ahead of their essential mix later on last night.
