Outside of his part in whacky House tag-team Duck Sauce, Montreal’s A-Trak is not only the DJ’s DJ, but an impressively outgoing asset of musical differentiation. Far opposite then to France’s unashamedly familiar landmark Martin Solveig, a man whose marketing skills have exceeded his talent from the outset of his album ‘Smash’. But with acid like pursuassion and an air of the craftily cut beats that we have all grown to love, A-Trak’s take on the inevitably predictable Solveig outing is something of a diamond amid the rough and tumble of modern Dance music. Emphasising the mildly appealing vocal line with his own sharp melodic grandeur and infectious chords, the Canadian club veteran overshadows the original with a productive knack you just cannot fake.
‘The Night Out’ EP is out on April 2nd on Solveig’s own Mixture Stereophonic Records.
