Throwing himself against the quirky musings of Woulter De Backer, better known under his Gotye alias, Dutch Electronic icon Tiësto proves himself up to the challenge of extending his genre’s reign on chart worthy remodels. Fusing climatic drops with expertly layered synths, his remix of ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ celebrates the unique melodic stylings of this sensational top line from the Belgian artist and Australian songstress Kimbra with the utmost style. Maintaining the original’s distinct emotive charms with chugging chords and that signature stadium-proof magic now associated with the Dutch heavyweight, his return to high-end remix duties is one of epic qualities from the outset. Taking his musical legacy to new heights with every fresh injection, this sound remix indicates the sky is still the limits for a legend still scaling the history books of EDM.

The Tiësto remix of ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ is set to be released on April 16th via Musical Freedom Records.

RIP from yesterday’s world premiere on Dutch national radio

  • Not bad at all, but not his best work if you ask me. What happened to his Coldplay remix??

  • Like the production, but isn’t the vocal off-key?

  • Horn sound @1:43 destroyed the track :-/

  • nae håller inte för mig, en av dom få låtar jag tycker som inte hör hemma på ett dansgolv.

  • @zetheiser

no, the vocal is definitely not off-key!

  • Joey Suki bootleg with Gotye is just fantastic…

  • varför har ni inte lagt en post om nya trash & sebbe?

  • Ricky,
His remix of paradise is sold on the android music market. It’s also 320 ;D

  • stefan: Det var vi som avslöjade hela grejen via vår fan page igår :P Avvaktar med post tills det finns ett namn.

  • For those that are talking about the horn, that’s not part of the remix. It’s been added by the Dutch radio jockey, it’s his ”gimmick” to use the horn (and other sound effects) in his radio show.

  • Pretty good, I prefer 4FRNT & dBerrie remixes though even though the latter could’ve been a little better produced.

  • Agree with above that dberries and 4FRNTs were better. For me tiesto trying as hard as possible to keep up with where progressive house is going, and struggles to keep up. His recent work sounds all the same. He should stick to his roots

  • @senor_ christes Are you high, good sir? His tracks and remixes are being played everywhere and Musical Freedom is exploding right now.

I’m not a fan, but he most definitely has no trouble keeping up with this current ”Progressive House” climate, since Progressive House isn’t what it used to be. Few remain clever in barren these times of Radio mixes and music charts.

  • Gotye – Somebody that I used to know (O.S. Edit)

Gotye ”Somebody that I used to know” Miami NIghts 1984 remix

  • tiesto doesnt produce his tracks… he has ghost producers.. for every track/remix another one..
like dj ken loi :) he produced some remixes for tiesto, tiesto doesnt even know how to start a computer
this progressive/elctro world is fake as fuck

  • This is simply a disgrace. What a horrific butchering of a truly brilliant song. It’s already overplayed, and as usual with Tiesto, he hops on the popular track bandwagon about 2 months to late, in which time all the real musicians have done bootlegs and remixes. It’s like your Dad, trying to stay cool, championing popular tracks way too late to look like he knows what he’s doing. It’s sad, because there’s just nothing special about this song, whilst the original is really, really special. This is why I really dislike Tiesto. He just caters to the lowest common denominator, and has no depth to his music, or his sets. It’s just one remix of ”Sweet Dreams” after another. His label, Musical Freedom, on the other hand, is releasing some really good stuff at the moment.

  • It’s sad talented DJs have to pay other more infamous producers to produce music to be released in their names. These days people can’t tell a producer and a DJ apart. This is really sad as they are two different professions and one shouldn’t have to be good at both of them to be able to become a big DJ. I’d rather see a talented DJ spinning other peoples well made tracks than having avarage DJs play their own tracks.

  • totally agree with oscar, Dj and producer are two different things but most people don’t male the difference.

  • I still prefer this bootleg with Camorra:

  • Sorry guys but Santiago Fellini remix is the best one 4 sure !

  • Nice production and track. Have Tiesto made this himself? or ghost producer?

  • check this two month old mashup from a friend of mine

Gotye Feat. Kimbra – Somebody That I Used To Know (Tiesto Remix) w/ Gotye Feat. Kimbra – Somebody That I Used To Know (Acapella) w/ Tommy Trash – Cascade w/ Thomas Gold – Marsch Marsch

in my opinion the best of all ^^

  • Sounds like nothing but Hardwell

  • Nothing beat the Fabian Bray Remix which was even played by Tiesto himself :)

  • This was helpful for me and it really gave me allot to think about. Thanks for this!
