Few could have anticipated the qualities a seemingly mainstream collaborator could add to last years imperical summer anthem. But where the addition of One Republic’s Ryan Tedder extended the shelf life of Sebastian Ingrosso and Alesso’s ‘Calling’ to considerable heights, the earliest formal remix from Dutch Electro pundit R3hab and his Russian peers Swanky Tunes looks to inject their vocal extension with formidable energy.
While the track was always going to be a tough one to remodel, R3hab’s chainsaw dialect plays out coherently alongside the Russian trios melodic Progressive styling’s to add a notably harder-cut undertone of extensive lead play and staggered riffage to the original. Their efforts may not quite mirror the original’s enigmatic appeal, but in a stern revert to the more organic club stylings of their respective origins, Fadil el Ghoul and his rising peers make a worthy imposition upon this standard setting amalgamation of infectious club music and universal pop appeal.
