Slamming the door on genre defiancy and ripping the Beatport charts a new one at every possible turn, Zedd is back at the forefront to unveil the first outtake from his forthcoming debut album for Interscope Records. Having flourished as an Owsla regular and donned his studio intellect to Eva Simons’ ‘I Dont Like You’, his thriving international presence suggests that this is no one night stand of industrious esteem for Germany’s prominent Electro House export.
But where heavy-hitting ‘Shotgun’ led with instrumental vigour, Anton Zaslavski’s return to the forefront of his craft sees the German heavy-stepper return to the limelight armed with Matthew Koma, the voice behind Alesso’s ‘Years‘, to make mincemeat of the concept that heavy-set Electro need not utilise the emotional realms. Balancing Koma’s powerful top line with a puzzling yet persuasive romp of excessive lead play and heavy progressing chords, there is little disputing the complexity and quality to which this young Electro heretic brings to the table. In one of the years more stimulating instalments of Electro House, the route to Zedd’s debut artist album looks even more promising courtesy of the emergence of this fine indicator of the true potential of popular EDM.
