Pete Tong – Essential Selection – 06-07-2012

Following a performance at the third ever Madrid installment of Rock In Rio, last night saw Pete Tong deliver another ”Essential Selection” for BBC Radio 1. Kicking things off with Benny Benassi’s soon-to-be-released remix of ‘Trembling Hands‘, AN21 and Max Vangeli’s ‘People of the Night‘ alongside Tiësto and Wolfgang Gartner’s ‘Redline‘, a world premiere of the final version of Deadmau5 ‘Professional Griefers‘ and new music from Pleasurekraft and Solomun rounded off the first leg of last night’s Essential Selection. With Hot Since 82 and Rune RK racing for the title of Essential New Tune, Black Box had the honors of nabbing the prestigious title for this week.

Tong flashes back on the Euro 2012 championships with a five track minimix before leaving room for a 15 minute mix from London-based Hotflush head honcho Scuba. Pierce from Rudimental joins in following a world premiere of the second track of André Sobota’s ‘Voyager EP‘ to talk about the success of ‘Feel The Love’ and what’s next for Hackney-bred Rudimental in this week’s 15 minutes of fame.
