Following on from the announcement of their debut American venture in October, the pure clubbers Mecca that is Sensation returns to where it all began back in 2000 – Amsterdam, launching the new concept ”Source of Light” in the process. Streaming live and direct from the Netherlands for the benefit of those unable to make this larger-than-life club experience, the event boasts a bill rife with some of the globe’s elite House music talents. Led by Dutch Revealed head honcho Hardwell and Toolroom’s Mark Knight, hometown DJ The Man With No Shadow, Riva Starr and New York’s Dennis Ferrer join  in alongside Sensation resident opener Mr. White yet another fine instalment of their white themed clubbing extravaganza.

25 Comments to “Live sets from Sensation ‘Source of Light’ in Amsterdam 2012”

  • Mr White playing good as usual :)

  • It is really disrespectful to your muslim fans to compare ”Mecca” in any of your posts.

  • Go cry somewhere else dude.

  • @Marvy – But for the rest of us, it doesn’t make one bit of difference what they compare it to. Don’t like it? Find a halal EDM site rather than this haram Beat My Day rubbish!

  • Marvy, in what way is that disrespectful? It’s not like it’s a bad thing. With your theory, it’s an insult to all people on earth when people say a producer/dj is a god. Come oon… I would understand you if they worded it in a more insulting way but this is obviously not meant as an insult.

Thanks for the stream!! I actually think mr white’s set is the best at every sensation event.

  • Mark Knight should be on soon, I’m guessing?

  • @marvy
    haha ur stupid!

  • I actually love what beatmyday guys do, and grateful to them. I’m just sending a message to the writer to let him know the facts so he can avoid them later and maybe a tiny bit professional. You will never hear BBC saying stuff like that.. That’s all, no hate !! I said that because I’m really fed up of the image EDM is taking. Like WoW said people relate producers and djs to God, which I said ”disrespectful” but not an ”insult”.
@wow Mecca for muslims is a place of worship. I know that the author did not mean any harm and wanted to say that it’s the perfect place for clubbing. But just needed to be more neutral. Believe me, small things like this can have consequences. It doesn’t matter for 95% of beatmyday readers, but this 5% can count !!
@Peter Landison your answer shows your IQ my friend. Enough said.

Otherwise, thanks for the stream I completely forgot about it. Keep up the good work. Enjoy the music.

  • marvy: I humbly apologise for any inconvenience or harm it may have caused you and/or others for that matter. Our intentions were not to be disrespectful or insulting. Will be more careful with the use of words such as that one in the future. Thanks!

Agreed, how about we all stop calling it EDM? Dance music for the club music scene in general and House music for actual House music.

  • marvy stop with ur jibberish plz

  • @Anton Thank you very much for your answer. I knew there were no harm in the post. My comment was more of an observation rather than an argument. Cheers.

  • @Anton yes please. EDM is a nasty word for house music. As Steve Angello said: ”The dance scene is becoming more and more messy”. I don’t even believe in Commerciale type. As you said, dance music for clubs and house music for the music that gives us goose bumps. Perfect categories.

  • Love Hardwell’s energetic style of his sets.

  • Hardwell played an incredibly nice set and I REALLY love his new track ‘How we do’ !

  • Full Sensation Amsterdam 2012 Broadcast mp3 please!!!

  • This was probably the best sensation music-wise up until Hardwell..

  • Glad I didn’t buy a ticket this year. Way too much tech & deep house for my taste, too few melodies. The Mark Knight set was pretty great though

  • @Bruce Kable: The way prog and electro house is moving I’m glad they chose to feature more deep, tech and house. Prog and electro has turned into just loudness and noise. There no focus on melodies anymore, just attempts to make the next stadium banger.

Tech and deep house are growing though, which is great for us who like HOUSE MUSIC!

  • Any ideas of hardwells ID track?

  • @heutZe I do agree with you about the commercialization of house music and that more and more tracks are just produced ‘to be bangers’, leading to pure crap. Still, there are a lot of good prog and electro tracks out there. That’s why I mentioned Mark Knight’s set as my personal favorite, it combines techy with melodic (especially near the end). I listened to the first 3 artists at home and I personally don’t like to listen to tech house for so long. Dennis Ferrer was terrible anyway. But that’s all opinion, not trying to convince you or anything. I’m just glad I saved my money this year ;)

  • @Forthi I think the ID at 35 might be a Nari & Milani track, but that’s purely guessing from the drum use and the ‘feel’ of the track. Could just as well be anyone else.

  • One of the best sensations ive been to… As hardwell said: I have never seen such a crowd at such an early time in the morning…. Amazing music Hardwell !!!! Looking forward for Thailand.
    @marvy respect bro…

  • Lovely blog! I am loving it!! Will come back again. I am bookmarking your feeds also

  • Helpful info. Fortunate me I discovered your web site unintentionally, and I’m surprised why this accident didn’t took place in advance! I bookmarked it.
