Sweden may not be the home of Europe’s humble French House heritage, but since successively injecting Lana Del Rey’s ‘Video Games‘ and Pnau’s ‘Solid Ground’ with a little New York infused soul alongside Adrian Lux, Johan Blende is proving closer to building the bridge than the vast majority of his peers. Joining the ranks of Eskimo Recordings for his latest studio endeavour, the Scandinavian producer returns with a firm extension of his Nu Disco stylings with ‘Fake Love’.
Transitioning from a sleek flare of eccentric beats and a distinct vocal line courtesy of Rebecca Scheja (of Rebecca & Fiona), ‘Fake Love’ ascends into an all-out affair of subtle strings, infectious leads and deep bass grooves, marking an essential throwback to the vintage day of forward-thinking House music with Justice-like tone. Where Nu-Disco and its associated peers may be proving Electronic music’s hit-and-miss sub-genre for 2012, Blende stirs a sound degree of enthusiasm for the uplifting energy that this vintage sound scope musters.
