Always controversial and frequently disputed among global club land, the DJ Mag Top 100 grounds has quickly transformed from a heartfelt charting to a popularity competition between mainstream industry assets. More accustomed to mirroring trends than celebrating bonafide talent, the emission of such technically advanced DJs as James Zabiela and A-Trak from this years top 100 list has added further speculation to the widely shared opinion that the integrity of the annual calendar mark continues to decrease and is now almost solely based on releases rather than DJ performances. But whatever the perspective, DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll remains as interesting as ever as it now ups the ante for the results of 2012’s poll.

Highest new entry: Nicky Romero (#17)

Biggest climber: Porter Robinson (up 56)

Update (20/10): You can now watch Armin Van Buuren’s two hour performance at the DJ Mag Awards party.

90 Comments to “DJ Mag Top 100 DJs 2012 – Poll Results”

  • yes!! a list with ”trending” djs. lol

  • where is your own opinion?

  • Top 2 are where they belong, Number 4 should be much lower!

  • This list disgust me.

  • #1 Hardwell.
    #2 Alesso.

  • Congrats Armin!!

  • the only one fitting in is Tiesto, the rest is bullshit. Guetta and Afrojack should not be listed at all

  • Lol Anton.. Your Carl Cox and James Zabiela not proven lol

  • Thanks Hardwell, Alesso, Dirty South & Thomas Gold !

But where is Gregori Klosman ? Where is Dyro ? Where is Otto Knows ? Where is Tristan Garner ? Starkillers ? Dubvision ?

Sjukt!

  • HAHAHAHA, biggest joke ever.

  • No Matisse & Sadko :(

  • y ZEDD?

  • dissapointed that Paris Hilton and Meowingtons didn’t make it to the top 100…

  • 1.-Avicii
    2.-Alesso
    3.- SHM
    4.- Headhunterz :D

  • this list is a joke, avicii is the third best dj in the world. if it was a producer list it would be more likely, then its just a matter of taste. But actual dj skills avicii should not even be in the list at all.

  • This is the biggest joke of 2012! Thank you DJmag!

  • Correction! (Grammar Nazi)

    7. Dash Berlin
    8. Above & Beyond

and Porter Robinson went up 56 places

  • Eric Prydz – down 6 spots, lmao.

  • For all of you who still haven’t got it: beatmyday doesn’t provide opinion, they provide information and discription! That’s why I love them so much and that’s why they are my first source of House Music! xD

  • So many on this list shouldn´t be there…
why isn’t A-Trak, Dyro, Third Party, Max Vangeli, Otto Knows, Swanky Tunes, Hard Rock Sofa, John Dahlbäck, Firebeatz, Matisse & Sadko, Nari & Milani, Yves V, Adrian Lux, Nause or Micheal Calfan on this list?!?!?

I am telling you people there is something sneaky with this list.

  • #1 swedish house mafia.

  • Prydz on 52 – this list is garbage :D

  • Would be interesting to see who the general voter is.

  • Don’t really care about this list but so glad Thomas Gold made it in this year and Hardwell is 6th!! This list is a lot better than last years guys. Its getting better stop bitching haha.

  • It’s surely a producer list but I think Cazzette sould had a spot here and that Roger Sanchez didn’t make it is insane and a star like Erik Morillo! And then I read that someone would like too see Nause here but that’s just not going to happen because they are almost only big in Sweden and even here some people believe its just one guy but some Swedish guys that I believe deserv a spot is Adrian Lux, John Dahlbäck and Cazzette like I said before but it’s the vote of the people so what can you do?

  • Hey this got labeled wrong right 101-150 is actually the top 100 right?! With the exception of Nero and Daft Punk and maybe a couple others this list is bullshit everyone else just gives a good show there not good artists. How many tracks do you think Rusko has produced this year and he’s not even mentioned? What’s the criteria for this list, who’s got the most money to buy number one?

  • I miss John dalhback and Michael Woods so bad on this list..

  • to DJMAG. make a poll for dj skill not whats popular for the year in producing terms

  • Where’s Guy J……have any of the voters been to a non commercial venue recently? Come on guys top 20 is pure cheese!

  • WHERE THE HELL IS A-TRAK?!?!

  • where the fuck is Mikael Weermets?! :/

  • wheres deniz koyu

  • All that campaigning by Deadmau5 to see how far he can drop, and he drops one spot hahaha. But this list is shit, they need to limit voting to DJs, promoters, and writers. Then MAYBE we’ll get a ”real” list.

  • Prydz should take Avicii’s place imo…

  • Hahaha who made this list? A group of deaf people?

  • Salva: It’s a public vote.

Myrk: We are sticking to facts and focusing almost solely on the actual music for now.

Francisco: Thanks for the heads-up, it’s been edited. :)

  • whatever the results, there will always be people who criticize and not happy with it…

  • DAVID GUETTA IS A FUCKING FAGGOT I DONO HOW I HE IS SO HIGH ON THE LIST HE SHOULD BE PLAYING AT FUNERALS

  • How Pryda is never top 10 is beyond me, im sure he doesnt give a crap about this anyway.

  • Steve Aoki is #15 and DJ Chuckie #35, WTF?! Aoki can’t even mix. This list is such a joke.

  • Avicci?? REALLY?? A Guy who can go on tour with one song and be the 3rd best DJ in the world… Pa – Lease.. These are DJs that play radio tunes.. Joke

  • who expected this to be the best list ever?? Eric Prydz down 5? lolllll that proves this shit is fuckin lame. Afrojack, Avicii, Guetta, SKRILLEX top 10??? lolllll gayest shit ever.fuck it. these are producers not DJs. bogus list. Where’s Chus and ceballos… don’t have to name the rest of the best house DJs of this age. Fuck u DJ mag

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT? WHERE iS MY PARIS HILTON!?!?!? WAS EXPECTING HER IN FIRST PLACE :( ((

  • Agree with daniel. The fact that Nicky Romero and Avicii have higher spots than Carl Cox and Pryda for example, continues to baffle me. I thought it was a 100 top DJs list, not breakthrough producer list. Daft Punk haven’t deejayed in years, this list needed some sort of filter, or something for voters to adhere to. Interesting how Ingrosso and Angello dropped drastically yet SHM is in the top…just shows how majority of their fan base sees them as a group, not respectively as djs. See? Contrived fan base. Alesso also…i dunno how he jumped up to be higher than Axwell for example, i thought, know, that Axwell is the better dj. Super glad i didn’t vote this year. This list is full of shit, gets worse each year.

  • Where are John Dahlback, Erick Morillo and A-trak?????????????????????/ I’m pretty sure Max Vangeli feels dejected because AN21 made the list and he didn’t, their pretty much of a pair.

  • Where are John Dahlback, Erick Morillo and A-trak?????????????????????/ I’m pretty sure Max Vangeli feels dejected because AN21 made the list and he didn’t, they’re pretty much of a pair.

  • im stunned…. this is so much bs omg

  • It seems time to break the list out into at least 3-4….Pure DJs (maybe mix but not doing original stuff)…..DJ pairs/groups….Dj/producers doing original releases….producers working mostly w/ tons of pop artists.(Guetta) The music, (esp House), technology, styles and carreers of ‘DJs’ now have evolved so dramatically, that alot of this list is like comparing apples and tunafish! Plus, sooo many of them work together on tons of different projects. It’s actually funny to see ‘Knife Party’ and ‘Laidback Luke’ who have worked w/ SHM for yrs. as ‘new arrivals’ (tho better than not on there at all) and good to see other ‘new’ names like Thomas Gold..But really should at least have a list of of top 40 ‘biggest names’ and 100 ‘newer’ one’s…better yet, if it’s heavily influenced by music released…just do top 100 original songs and who worked on them…and top 100 remixes. Are you seriously implying that Sasha, Digweed or Oakenfeld suddenly have lost it????

  • Hardwell 6th……haha

  • WHERE IS MADEON?! THE KID GENIUS SHOULD BE ON THIS LIST!

  • WHERE IS TIM MASON?! WTF IS THIS BULLSHIT?!

  • WHERE ARE MY KEYS? I HAD THEM THIS MORNING!

  • A non-musical crowd is the voter, So this is a list of popularity, not a list of quality. Remember that!
No hating anymore please. DjMag Top100 is just a wrong concept. Armin is #1. That means: he’s not the best, but the most populair DJ.

  • Couldnt agree more Niels, its popularity list. Has Nothing to do with dj skills or even producing skills. The mostpart of the voters are people who just started listening to house who thinks its the ”hip” music right now. People who dont really love the music and that goes to festivals and clubs for the partyscene more then the actuall music

  • HOUSE PROGRESSIVE ELECTRO UP
    TRANCE DOWN

The actual trance is so worry, the best list is BEATPORT

  • Fedde Le Grand 26 ?????? Are u serious?????? this list sux

  • Alex M.O.R.P.H. was on 146 last year. Shame he is not in the top100

  • When Avicii become so large???????????

  • where is marco Carola??? im so happy with #6 HARDWELL… but this list its a little fun!!! congratulations Rob!!!! make some noiseeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

  • Stop taking the name ”Topp 100 DJ’s” so literally. DJs = PRODUCERS and people vote like this, get over it.

  • JUSTICE not in the top 100 ? hahaha

    1. DAFT PUNK
    2. JUSTICE
    3. MADEON

Stop your progressive shit with all the same drums/bass/fx, that sucks.

  • WHERE THE FUCK IS DJ PAULY D???????

  • marco carola, magda, dubfire, maceo plex ????

  • #1 paul kalkbrenner

  • @LUKE go to a f*** me im famous party then see what you say…
hate on guetta all you want but ive seen all the big boys live so i really think i have freedom of speech (avicii, angello, ingrosso, axwell, afrojack, alesso, kaskade, laidback luke) and guetta F*** me im famous party in vegas was absolutely mental axwell still will get my vote year in and year out cause his mastery of making songs but as far as just pure madness guetta was nuts when i saw him in vegas.

  • MARTIN SOLVEIG n°48 he should be in a better rank…
Why are DAFT PUNK in this ”TOP100″ ?! Seriously, I don’t hate them but they really do anything during this year but I’m really happy for AVICII who is n°3 !!!
And of course CONGRATULATIONS TO ARMIN VAN BUUREN !!!

@David I think you’re blind because Madeon is in this list at the 54th rank …

@lolboyz just shut up HATER !!! Nobody critisizes the French Touch or the true Electronic music so don’t flame Progressive House !!!!!!!

  • What happened with Hard rock sofa & Swanky tunes?

  • After hearing a lot of disapointment regarding the Top 100 DJ we have made our own, Vote here: http://bit.ly/RKgXvm – RT -

  • no aoki ??

  • Amazingly, no Cazzete.

John Dahlback is so underrated I don’t even expect him to show up anywere…

    Keep on the underground man.

  • 1. Hardwell
    2. Avicii
    3. David Guetta
    4. Afrojack
    5. Swedish House Mafia
    Perfect!

  • And Cazzette ?! WTF, not in ranking !
Contragulation to Hardwell, Nicky Romero, Alesso, Avicii, Afrojack !

  • Am I crazy or is the stream down? Any chance at a mirror, I hadn’t gotten through the whole thing yet!

  • AFROJACK must be the first and avicii second.

  • top 2 rule along with no. 5 …….. no 4 should be way lower than most of them……

  • Skrillex sucks and OMG WOLFGANG Gartner at #60… But i am happy for Tiesto And deadmau5 Though…. Congrats Tiesto for #2 and Deadmau5 for #5……Their Trance Rules (Not Psy Trance)

  • Bullshit! Where are the hip hop dubstep drum and bass dancehall and reaggae and other genres djs?!??!!??? This is such a bullshit list you should get sued for this!! And the half of them are not djs but producers !!! Deadmaus hates djs and is on that list
Wake up! Pay attention.. This is extremely offensive!

  • This list isn’t about the quality of their productions but merely their popularity. Far better artists than those in the top 10.
