Fresh on the scene for 2012, the mysterious American trio known as Cash Cash have certainly mixed things up for a scene drenched in predictable club stylings. But where their recent remodel of Nervo and Hook N Sling’s ‘Reason’ made yet more promising noise for the New Jersey genre-benders, their latest free giveaway adds positive light to their music over matter approach.
Brushed with distressed vocal samples and a distinct set of grinding chord progressions, ‘Overtime’ sits somewhere between the realms of Indie Pop and Electro House with little sign of resting too heavily upon the prior’s hallmarks. While it’s apex may fall on the heavyset grinding and melodic manipulation, Cash Cash ditch the tedium to don a whacky yet persuasive outing that is sure to take their mysterious grandeur to a new high.
