After years of avid anticipation and a stint of clever marketing, French electronic titans Daft Punk have officially released the first single from their hotly anticipated fourth studio album, ‘Random Access Memories’ and their first track since their film score for Disney’s Tron: Legacy in 2010. While widely considered masters of pushing the envelope and introducing the world of dance music to a new sound with each release, in ‘Get Lucky’ we see Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Hombrem revisit and revamp the more traditional terrains of electronic music. Featuring the iconic guitar style of Nile Rodgers and an incredibly catchy vocal line courtesy of Pharrell Williams, ‘Get Lucky’ marks the comeback of the Parisian duo with a track that portrays a mesmerizing, robo-funk sound with unmistakable soul.

Out today on iTunes, Beatport and Spotify.

Update: ‘Get Lucky’ is now #1 on iTunes in over 50 countries.

  • This is about time!

  • their marketing up until this point has been f*cking genius to say the least. super excited to hear the rest of the album

  • All this hype this album is getting is starting to get a bit unhealthy.. They are and will always be my favorite producers but all this attention could end up hurting them in the long run. I hope not though.

As for the track, I absolutely love the bass line! I found the vocals a bit cheesy at first, but started to thoroughly enjoy them now.

Another thing, do you know if this one is the real deal? (If not, which one is it?)

  • This is so on point!

  • Nile Rodgers please?

  • ive never waited for an album so bad!!

  • I haven’t been this stoked for an album to drop since I was a teenager.

  • Are you kidding me with this only being available in the U.S. iTunes store?!

  • Finally a perk to living in the US, lol

  • So nice to here something fresh

  • It’s on Spotify aswell!

  • I’m already tired of the riff, they did too much promotion with this sample…

  • fresh and retro at the same time. i’m sure the whole album will be amazing and hopefully we can finally forget about all this ”edm banger” bullshit

  • JSR: Well its your fault for listening to the ads and the ”bootlegs” and shit like that.

This song is so simple yet so good and catchy! Pharrells vocals grows for every listen. Im so stoked for the album. Agree witch vickeiy, so fucking fresh but still so retro.

  • @JSR: You are missing the point. You are the equivalent to an early adopter in the technology scene, you’ve been listening to it since day 1 are almost bound to be tired of the song already, but it’s got people hyped up enough so that the mainstream will listen to it.
Promotional campaigns are not ment for you, they are ment for the guy on the street.

  • Vickeiy: Agree!

  • Oh man! I can’t handle all this hype! :-D I’m soo happy right now!

  • Does anybody know if you get a hard copy when pre-ordering the album on Itunes? I can’t seem to find any information about it and it didn’t say anything about it when I ordered it.

  • @Philip

iTunes is only digital download. You’ll have to go to your local record store. Or Amazon.

  • @Philip
Here you go, vinyl or cd :)

  • Finally, an amazing track!

  • who the fuck is Guy-Manuel de Hombrem?

  • Truth is, everybody ”loves” this song only cause it’s Daft Punk. I’m not saying this song is bad. I just think it’s overhyped, they have done so much better.

  • all these kids going crazy because ifs ”daft punk”, they are great but seriously guys wake up and dont only look beatport top100 for music, there is a lot of great music out there that isnt overcompressed and has a nice vibe and sound a lot better then this get lucky cruise ship pop with pharrell vocals.

The single so far has been really dissapointing, i’d rather listen to their older songs which sound so much better, this sounds like its looped throughout the track and listening to same shit over and over again nothing is changing

  • lol

  • Not impressed with Pharrels vocals here, and they sit really weirdly in the mix. Might be on purpose, but not for me.

The chopped up vocals in the chorus is nothing short of amazing though.

  • @mike

Lol you are clearly a hipster douchebag. Artists always develop a new sound. Go and listen to Discovery then. No one cares about your opinion so shut up.

  • is it possible to unlike this track?

  • @Mike Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Seriously?? Oh my god, I can’t breathe from laughter! Hahahahaha

  • @Nedla Not really. I’m excited and all about this comeback, but overall, this is a breathe of fresh air from all the garbage that is out there. Sure, there are some tacks that might be better than ”Get Lucky”, like One More Time for example. And maybe you are experiencing the same effect as JSR. Nonetheless, this is amazing.

  • This track is great, i love it. But there are plenty of good songs out now that aren’t made by daft punk. There’s always good music out there people just don’t look for it then they complain when they don’t like what they are being handed. Mainstream electro progressive whatever you want to call it isn’t worse music than Daft Punk its just different.

  • …I think… I think I will be making children to this song. 0.0

  • Sounds awesome. Some chick guitar patterns, a vocoder.. What does does people want ?

  • @rawr: If you don’t know who Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo is, assuming you are a Daft Punk fan, you should really feel ashamed lol. Guy is the man in the gold helmet with the black visor.

  • @Johanna

is it possible to unlike your grammar?
