Arguably one of his hottest remixes to date, last year’s R3hab remix of LMFAO’s ‘Champagne Showers’ returns to the forefront as Fadil hands out free copies of the unreleased instrumental version in celebration of him hitting 120 000 fans on his Facebook fan page. Having become one of clubland’s most sought-after remixers as far as radio-friendly music goes, R3hab has managed to preserve his club-esque signature sound now known as the ”Chainsaw Madness” for a cause that has led to his meteoric rise as of late. With a 2012 follow-up to ‘Prutataaa‘ alongside Afrojack in the pipeline, the Dutchman takes us back to last Summer to shed light on the long-awaited instrumental of a vigorous remix that has been an essential piece in his ascent over the past year.

With the groundbreaking Size Matters Augmented Reallity App on the way, the recent launch of Size Records’ new website brought us not only further insight on the updated artist roster of Steve Angello’s rising record imprint, but a free give-away of an unreleased remix of Qulinez‘ debut single on the label – ‘Troll‘. Conjuring support from arguably the hottest trio in the game with it’s premiere play by the Swedish House Mafia at this year’s Masquerade Motel in Miami, Dutch duo Sick Individuals‘ take preserves the high-pitched synth original while replacing the unorthodox drop with a heavy dose of acid-house, providing further testament to Angello’s affinity for the Roland TB-303 synthesizer. Despite being eclipsed by the mighty original, it’s refreshing to hear a different version of one of 2012’s hottest contenders thus far.

British Electro technician Stuart Price, better known under the alias of Jacques Lu Cont, has continued to raise the bar with his authentically tailored exploits of a certain vintage appeal. Already seeing heavy support from Pete Tong on the prestigious airwaves of BBC Radio 1, Price continues his trend of literally ‘giving it away’ with latest studio export ‘Church’.
Aptly lined with discordant organ chords, this quirky array of vintage leads and fast-laced Electro stylings certainly marks a refreshing breath of air from the all-too-familiar hallmarks currently associated with the genre. Consistently sharp but embracing an old-school twist somewhat reminiscent of Daft Punk’s purer days, ‘Chruch’ follows suit alongside his already sterling arsenal of gritty House gems in celebration of the mixed European roots that have seen flourish across the globe.

You don’t need us to remind you that Sweden is looking pretty paramount as far as its contributions to global Dance music are concerned. Maybe it was something in the water, but even the kids are giving its fair share of bonafide legends a run for their money. One of the grittier contenders, Linus Eklöw, has incessantly fought any predispositions that it was all tame-Euro House with a consistent wave of heavy-handed Electro grooves to suit every walk of the industry.
But the mechanically superior stylings of Stockholm’s Electro orientated master prove on ultimate form for the formatively sharp dub-version of ‘Devastate’ having had the original featured as part of OSWLA’s free Beatport compilation. As precise and melodically scattered as the seminal offerings that made his name, Style Of Eye’s transitions from euphoric lead work to aptly devastating drops marks exactly why there has been so much hype surrounding this contemporary Swedish Electro-stud. Previewed exclusively by Pete Tong on his Essential Selection, this latest concentrated dose of aggressively sound club fuel is sure to make a lasting impression on the more timid European exports currently cluttering the Beatport charts and international airwaves alike with the aftermath of a fatal shot to the crotch.

Fine instalments in the Swedish empire of eclectic House talents may not be a new concept these days, but newfound three-piece Daleri drop their debut single in a bid to freshen up their country’s undisputed reign on the international club scene. Embracing the more melodic realms of EDM with consistent quality, ‘Eavesdrop’ certainly peeks in on the heavier aspects of the genre, but fails to conform to more monotonous vibes currently inhabiting the Beatport charts. Intrinsically held-up by a stunning array of emotive leads and uplifting chord play, Daleri prove that impressive studio dialect can still be satisfying when approached from outside of the box. Proving somewhat unique yet reassuringly familiar in their buoyant Progressive stylings, this dynamic Swede trio would struggle to find a more promising start to their collective career than this landmark instalment of Scandinavian talent.

Some hallmarks in Electronic music’s potted history remain as potent as the day they first touched the club floor. Where Jurgen Vries ‘The Theme’ has remained at the forefront of the genres timeless legacy, recently inaugurated Aussie anthem mongers Feenixpawl and TV Rock’s Ivan Gough don a mark of respect to their European predecessor. Intertwining the unforgettable lead play that came to define ‘The Theme’ as a timeless outing, their glowing Progressive take on the original fuels these infectious properties with a rigid backbone of elegant melodics and distinctly tough drums. For a song that boasts countless remixes of little enthusiastic properties, this bootleg hails as a more successful approach to remembering the golden age of Dance music while celebrating a very modern revolution in widespread Electronic acclaim.

Enigmatic Dutch producer Joris Voorn has kept us waiting for his highly anticipated edit of Lana Del Ray’s ‘Video Games’. First unveiled at his birthday celebrations in February, Voorn opts to give this cut of the chart-raking anthem a free release on the run up to Miami WMC. Undeniably not his best work to date, the sophisticated styling of his deeper House grooves marks a familiar and somewhat inspiring cut from the usually groundbreaking Netherlands asset turned Rejected head honcho. Donning a substantial Electronic diversion to the originals emotive properties, this is an edit still well worth a listen, bringing a suitable modern club twist to the mournful melodic realms of pop music’s latest vocal heartthrob.

Love him or hate him, Skrillex has changed the game as far as the Electro-Step crossover is concerned. From Screamo heart throb to affirmative wobble master, through wave after wave of solid low-end outings Sonny Moore has led the way for a new generation of Electro orientated artists while showing little sign of sheltering the vivacious energy alongside it. Anyone brave enough to take that intimidating soundscope and inject it into the work of The Doors was bound to see a mixed reception, but the postive influx of support for Breakn’ A Sweat suggests that the senseless bitching has been iradicated by a warm sense of industrious respect.
Of a similar mindset is German Electro House newcomer and labelmate Zedd, slamming the door on genre defiancy and ripping the Beatport charts a new one at every possible turn. In a self-fulfilling romp of distored lead work and frantic melodic peaks, the clean shaven fuzz of Anton Zaslavski’s potent remodel extends a clubworthy shelf life to Skrillex’s original, encapsulating the same low-end authority of the original stalemate stand-off to hit home a more Electro orientated offering than that of its 2-step original. We may have heard it all before, but oversubscribed sub genre remains aurally stimulating at the hands of two of its key players.

1978 saw distinct German Disco force inject the industry with a song that no one really knew how to deal with. Mustering chart action across the globe, however, it seemed that the quirky grooves of ‘Rasputin’ had caught a ears along the way. Far further down the line, Swedish brothers in-the-beat Enzio and Emilio could be found attempting to rekindle the fire of the beloved genre with a 21st century twist. In the wake of their debut single ‘Soul Train’, the young Stockholm duo have taken substantial pride is assuming the role of their country’s more creative House collective.
In a bid to emasculate the original 70’s crowd pleasers avid ‘cheese’ factor, the scattered tweaks and buckled disco vibes of the duo’s next track marks something of an evil professor status for the rising Swedes. Amid a scene of often mind numbing unoriginality, this daringly different outing suggests there are still a few crucial wildcards on the European circuit to be turned over. Enzio and Emilio are definitely one of them.

Originally released as part of the Icelandic band GusGus‘ eighth studio album last year, ‘Within You’ and its sophisticated appeal gets an ultimate remix treatment from Norway’s possibly most potent Progressive House duo to date. Famed by their affinity for large beats and stadium-esque synth lines, Carl Louis and Martin Danielle, fresh off their debut single on Thomas Sagstad’s newly launched Strictly Rhythm sublabel, FiveAM, give the original’s relaxing and canorous instrumentals a proper revamp á la big room House. While the original focuses on sweeping strings and a significant dose of soulfulness, the Carl Louis and Martin Danielle remix reflects on a set of heavy-stepping kicks and those signature synths of theirs to make up this Norwegian pair’s inaugural release of 2012.

Coming off an immensely successful 12 months on his behalf, making three essential appearances on Prydz’ Pryda Friends label, a noteworthy release on Dirty South’s Phazing Records as well as several live performances alongside Eric Prydz himself, Jeremy Olander kickstarts the New Year off in the same vein by giving of two long-awaited singles of his. While ‘The Drew’ and it’s intricate synth lines and chugging beats make up the headliner of this two-track EP, ‘Animal Garden’ proves to be as equally impressive with a silky smooth flute and some finely tuned baselines. Despite the fact that some may deem free give-aways to be synonymous with the lack of quality, these two tracks’ proficiently crafted build-ups indicate that no such conclusion can be drawn.

Originally released in 2003, Scandinavian duo Djuma Soundsystem’s club classic with strong Middle Eastern influences gets a modern revamp by aspirational, Hasselt based Siege, real name Sieg Motmans. Following on from last year’s appearance on Pete Tong’s world renowned Essential Selection with Lox, this Belgium producer and Dj continues to show high ambitions as far as his production outlet goes. Raking in support from the likes of Pete Tong, Tiësto, Thomas Gold and Kaskade, Siege’s impressive remodel of this 21st century, string-filled club anthem borrows significantly from the original while still bringing his own proficiency to the table. After a slightly edited phrase of the original’s oriental strings, an entrancing synth lead and beefy bottom layers are due to carry the light for what is looking to be another prolific year for this young Belgian.
