It’s told that three is a magic number and surely, Eric Prydz’s third ‘real’ Essential Mix for BBC Radio One is musical wizardry from start to finish. While one might think topping his mix from 2007 would be a task close to impossible, Prydz’s 2013 effort sees him pull out all the stops for a majestic two-hour journey of peaks and valleys and a continuous wave of melodic bliss.
Dealing almost exclusively in unreleased tracks from the Prydz camp, the Swedish veteran sails through a selection of 24 tracks, whereof 22 are yet to be released, from Cory Lasser, Magnus Froblom, Jeremy Olander, the mysterious Not Mani and Arpo as well as Prydz alter egos Pryda, Cirez D and Tanja Holma. Jumping between the uplifting disposition of his Pryda moniker and the underground hallmarks that dominated his national uprising, Prydz’s 2013 Essential Mix offers a seamless insight into the studio genius of the inimitable master of melodic Dance music.
