In the aftermath of dropping ‘Fake Love‘ on Eskimo Recordings to much acclaim, Swedish producer Johan Blende returns with volume three of his Blende Edits series of free EP’s.

Having taken on the likes of Prince, Yes and Blondie in his previous offerings of 80’s nostalgia, volume three sees Blende continue his bold yet inoffensive trip down memory lane to put a 21st century twist on a slew of 80’s songs yet again. This time, ambitiously sailing through the likes of Earth, Wind and Fire, ZZ Top, Hashim, and Anne Clark.

Sweden may not be the home of Europe’s humble French House heritage, but since successively injecting Lana Del Rey’s ‘Video Games‘ and Pnau’s ‘Solid Ground’ with a little New York infused soul alongside Adrian Lux, Johan Blende is proving closer to building the bridge than the vast majority of his peers. Joining the ranks of Eskimo Recordings for his latest studio endeavour, the Scandinavian producer returns with a firm extension of his Nu Disco stylings with ‘Fake Love’.

Having torn apart the likes of Prince and Yes in his inaugural offering of 80’s nostalgia, Volume Two is as true to his fondness for throwbacks as its predecessor would dictate. From the upbeat remodel of Blondie’s ‘Heart of Glass’ right through to the Swedish producers own disco retouch of Milton Wright’s ‘Friends & Buddies’, his bold yet inoffensive retouch of these age-defining anthems secures his spot as one of the more courageous underground assets to bless the club floor of late.

Where Lana Del Rey’s haunting vocal assets have proven indispensible to chart and club alike, a late-coming surge of exploratory enthusiasm sees Sweden’s young master of the melodic club anthem Adrian Lux and his hometown peer Blende take on the familiar and haunting realms of her outstanding breakthrough single ‘Video Games’.

Led by a divine collection of dashing synth work and sufficiently coarse chord progressions, the duos heavy-set disco stylings make for a crisp yet refreshing take on the tracks club worthy appeal. While Del Rey’s spine tingling top line bows aptly to Lux’s melodic disposition, the duos evasion of the all-too-familiar peak time sound scope proves a worthy extension of a somewhat weathered hit with seemingly unlimited floor-filling potential.
