With a heritage of hits behind her and one of the most distinct surviving voices of Soul, the long overdue return of reformed gospel legend Candi Staton to Defected Records sees a slew of quality remixes from the past and future masters of modern Dance music.

With the remnants of last year’s landmark release ‘So Long’ still doing the rounds, Dortmund’s rising Deep House advocate Larse makes his Defected Records debut with a fresh take on Staton’s return to the spotlight. With the profund rhythmic swells and crisp percussive elements that have ornamented his rise of late, Larse persuasively embraces the timeless vocal assets of ‘Hallelujah Anyway’ in a first proficient outing for the renowned House imprint.

In a strong turn to warmer realms of soulful club music, Chicago House legend Frankie Knuckles and his long serving peer Eric Kupper team up to take on the divine gospel stylings of Candi Staton and her single ‘Hallelujah Anyway’. Balancing smooth House beats with the thick instrumental values that both producers have excelled throughout their decades within industry, this key driven cut for Staton’s welcome return to the club floor is music you could sink your teeth into from two uncompromised forces in American House music.

In a strong turn to warmer realms of soulful club music, Chicago House legend Frankie Knuckles and his long serving peer Eric Kupper team up to take on the divine gospel stylings of Candi Staton and her single ‘Hallelujah Anyway’. As the voice behind a slew of classic Soul singles and a steady wave of viable modern club cuts for Groove Armada and The Shapeshifters alike, the unhurried original gives way to that eccentric flare of vintage that Director’s Cut has sworn by since its inception.

With the remnants of last year’s landmark release ‘So Long’ still doing the rounds, Dortmund’s Deep House master Larse continues to make his mark as he previews his forthcoming first release on Defected Records. Coming off the remix of Hollis P Monroe’s ‘I’m Lonely’ earlier this year, Larse’s return to remix duty sees him don his studio intellect to the timeless voice of Candi Staton.

Teeming with deep, rhythmic bass and crisp percussions, the German Noir regular replaces the original’s already soothing disco stylings to better complement Candi Staton’s haunting vocals with his minimalistic signature sound while further fuelling Defected’s ongoing summer streak of Deep House gems.

The Larse remix of ‘Hallelujah Anyway’ will be released August 27th.
