Having made the transition from Birmingham to New York at the tender age of 20, Carl Kennedy is closely established as one of England’s most reverent House players to date. Having fuelled Erick Morillo’s Subliminal Records with back-to-back tracks and maintained a solid stance as an Ibiza veteran, his appointment to support the Swedish House Mafia for their game changing appearance at Madison Square Garden left little room for doubts that Kennedy is a whole different entity on record and dance floor alike.
With Australian model turned singer Cheyenne Tozzi’s sensual vocals leading the way for Kennedy’s jubilant return to Subliminal, ‘Once Upon a Time’ peaks and flows with a precise air of energy to form one of the British producer’s finest club outings to date. Throbbing with emotive yet determined energy and soaked in that signature Subliminal charm, it is unsuspecting assets like Tozzi that the industry should be lapping up amid claims of unviable commerciality, as it certainly hasn’t cost Carl in this sterling return for 2012.

The noteworthy preferences of DJ Tijs Verwest, also known as Tiësto, have turned heads since mid 90’s. And with his successful radio show, Club Life, airing weekly on Sirius XM, his significance in clubland is growing by the day. That being said, it’s no surprise this new single from Carl Kennedy saw its primal unveiling on behalf of the superstar DJ from Holland earlier this Fall. Kennedy, whom was proclaimed in early 00’s along with signings to Toolroom, Stealth and Cr2, has managed to become an acquainted DJ and producer thanks to his stirring outputs with genuine vibes of the white isle that is Ibiza. Since he teamed up with the now widely known Tommy Trash and vocalist Rosie Henshaw for the release of Blackwater through Subliminal in 2010, the advancement of the New York-raised Carl Kennedy has not slipped anyone by lately.
Riding the remnants of the aforementioned Subliminal release, which has been an essential set weapon on Ibiza over the past year, Kennedy combines forces with 23 year old Australian singer and model Cheyenne Tozzi for Once Upon A Time. Enthralling in the sensual and absolutely blinding voice of Ms. Tozzi and dance-friendly in the uplifting yet heavily throbbing instrumentals on behalf of the New York resident, the magnitude of Once Upon A Time encapsulates a sweeping crescendo, supporting yet crucial piano chords and pounding kicks to, all combined, shape up a top shelf release.
It’s set to release February 28th on Subliminal Records.
