Leeds may not be the home of Britain’s humble Disco heritage, but since successively injecting Erick Morillo & Eddie Thoenick’s summer anthem ‘Live Your Life‘ with a little New York infused soul, Dirty Freek is proving closer to building the bridge than the vast majority of his peers. Batting for the heartfelt Disco Bomb imprint for his latest studio endeavour, the Northern producer returns with a firm extension of his Disco House stylings with ‘Pillow Talk’.
Transitioning from a sleek flare of eccentric beats and sample work, ‘Pillow Talk’ ascends into an all-out affair of sexy trumpet leads and infectious bass grooves, marking an essential throwback to the vintage day of American Disco with a sensational 21st century House twist. Where Nu-Disco and its associated peers may be proving Electronic music’s hit-and-miss sub-genre for 2012, Dirty Freek stirs a sound degree of enthusiasm for the relentlessly uplifting energy that this vintage sound scope musters.

Primarily known by his disco-influenced remix of Erick Morillo, Eddie Thoneick and Shawnee Taylor’s ‘Live Your Life‘ last year, Leeds-based Dirty Freek continues to shed light on his modern take on disco-house with this catchy and very fitting contribution to Disco Bomb Music’s back catalogue. Starting off quite smoothly, ‘Pillow Talk’ then sees the Leeds producer combine funky bass, carefully crafted trumpet sounds and a dance-provoking top line for something not so much of a soundtrack for actual pillow talk as it is yet another promising effort on behalf of the on-going return of disco-house.
‘Pillow Talk’ will be released on May 14 via Disco Bomb Music.
This brilliant fellow has truly got some sick tunes lined for this year, especially the Summer. Many of them are scheduled to be released within a few months and it seems as Fuck The Music can be added to that list since Dirty Freek recently uploaded his remix of the track. This one shows off a bit funkier side of Avicii but maintains the same incredible level of his other productions. Any release info hasn’t been revealed yet so stay tuned!
After being successfully dropped on Subliminal last Summer, the renowned anthem is back with new remixes, whereof one stands out from the rest! Dirty Freek has taken on Erick Morillo and Eddie Thoneick’s Live Your Life making it their very own by adding a cool funky beat which interacts quite perfectly with that beautiful voice of Shawnee Taylor! It’s available now via 3 Beat Records, don’t miss out!
