Always controversial and frequently disputed among global club land, the DJ Mag Top 100 grounds has quickly transformed from a heartfelt charting to a popularity competition between mainstream industry assets. More accustomed to mirroring trends than celebrating bonafide talent, the emission of such technically advanced DJs as James Zabiela and A-Trak from this years top 100 list has added further speculation to the widely shared opinion that the integrity of the annual calendar mark continues to decrease and is now almost solely based on releases rather than DJ performances. But whatever the perspective, DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll remains as interesting as ever as it now ups the ante for the results of 2012’s poll.

DJ Mag’s Top 100 poll has become an influential ratification of the hottest DJ’s out over the past few years and is now announcing the results for the second year in a row with the poll being fully based on a public vote. In conjunction with Trackitdown, a widely known digital market for electronic dance music, an annual buzz as to whom is becoming the best new entry, taking the largest climb upwards and whom is elected the winner begins in post-summer to run through to the prestigious Amsterdam Dance Event – the week-long festival which is becoming more significant to the EDM industry by the day.

In terms of confusion concerning the results; many have come to judge and rate the world’s DJ’s along with their placings on the poll which, in truth, has come to be based principally on the CD-spinner’s performances on the charts and as producers instead of what it ultimately was intended to rate – mixing and general DJ skills. Although skillful discjockey’s like James Zabiela may not place themselves and their outstanding knowledge on everything mixing and transitions at the forefront, one should keep in mind the top 100 results are only approximations as to who are the most renowned names in modern-day clubland, despite the fact that an appearance on the poll is indeed a prestigious award to any DJ and/or producer.

In an epoch where DJ’s are like the modern-day rockstars and attract thousands and thousands of raving club-goers to, if not such festivals as Ultra in Miami, Tomorrowland, Electric Daisy, Electric Zoo and Sensation, weekly events in nearby clubs and venues across the globe, this poll is now a solid and utmostly intriguing statement as to whom has had a successful year and who has not. Since DJ Mag’s top 100 voted DJ’s poll contains so much trance DJ’s we decided to sort out all of the trance & techno DJ’s and accent all of the house DJ’s and producers. We are irregardless a house blog! The commercialized David Guetta still makes the top since he basically is a house DJ. The problem with the voters focusing on the productions instead of the DJ skills still remains but this list gives a more distinct picture of the poll as WE know it – a fair picture of the house music industry as it is today with the Swedish House Mafia dominating the scene together with Deadmau5, what do you think?

The results of the DJ Mag’s contest are here rating the top 100 DJ’s in the world through votings made by all of the music lovers out there! The unfortunate matter letting the fans make the decision makes these results incorrect since many of the voters choose to vote on the best producing DJ and not the best DJ as in DJ skills. The DJ poll is not really a pole for the best DJ’s but for the best producers. I mean, how good is actually Armin Van Buuren at DJ’ing compared to the extraordinary James Zabiela. A perfect example is the Swedish House Mafia. Both Axwell and Steve Angello are getting hammered with votes and in the mean time Sebastian Ingrosso sits back there with less and STILL he’s got the widest skill for DJ’ing, both according to me and according to Ax and Steve themselves. I truly hope the minds of the voters will change sometime in the future, until then enjoy the current top 100 list down below!
