Reemerging from the shadows to follow up his official remix duties for Dragonette, Barcelona’s David Borras, better known as Heren, teams up alongside hometown producer Joan Reyes and Sydney songstress Amba Shepherd for a new release on Reyes’ Beyond Sounds label.
Cloaked in that Madeon-esque vibe, ‘Perfect Crime’ sees the Barcelona duo take a turn for the increasingly popular vintage take on French House to lay down a formative number of a mechanically sound melodic pop approach. Though lacking some of the epic production values of their more esteemed peers, their somewhat meticulous approach and Shepherd’s clever lyrics make for a mark of musical maturity from the Spanish hopefuls.
Where Sharam has undoubtedly mastered the emotive vocal anthem amid his years on the beat, Barcelona’s David Borras, better known as Heren, emerges from the shadows to take on his latest Yoshitoshi outing ‘Our Love’. Comfortably building a repertoire of disjointed Electro House around Anousheh’s divine driving top line, a strong transitional outing of grinding leads and systematic melodic spots makes for a familiar yet strong sound scope for the Spanish hopeful. While his efforts may not leap off the shelf on the merits of originality, his stern studio dexterity and unpretentious eye for melodic progressions certainly makes his take of ‘Our Love’ a noteworthy remix. Set to join Axwell and his peers at Axtone this summer at the White Isle’s illustrious Amnesia nightclub with his band Yall, 2012 already looks full of promise for Barcelona’s emerging Electro enthusiast.

Despite its futuristic sound and forward thinking qualities, there doesn’t seem to have been too many going head over heels for the latest release from the up-and-coming David Borrás, better known as Heren. Hailing from Barcelona, the producer that has just scooped a signing with Plasmapool, the label also known for bringing up Mord Fustang, is, from the looks of things, the face of a new wave of young producers deriving from within the borders of Spain.
Taking on another resident artist of Plasmapool, Hypster, and his February release of 2011, Nitro Play Music, for a significant rework, Heren shows signs for what is looking to be some successful times ahead. Comprising a robotic female vocal, a silky break-down sound progression and playful, intricate and French house influenced build-ups, Heren’s take on Nitro Play Music, released via Houserecordings, is no doubt one worthy a large slice of recognition.
