Sweden’s stadium-filling powerhouse Swedish House Mafia have always been full of surprises. But in the aftermath of hitting #1 on the UK charts, their sixth and final single ”Don’t You Worry Child” receives a slew of remixes by an unexpected assortment of producers from across the spectrum.

On hand with swift drum work and raw energy that may lack the vocal opulence of the original but excels on the merits of invigorating energy, hotly tipped British duo Tom Staar and Kryder lay down a formative headline number of the single, with Promise Land’s remix blending wobbles and persistent misshapen chord play. But where the two aforementioned remixes touch on the energetic vibes now synonymous with the Swedish trio, Joris Voorn rounds off the three-piece package with a turn for the unexpected, choosing to chop John Martin’s heartwarming vocals into a soothing Tech House formula.

Update (29/10): The remixes are now available on iTunes and Spotify.

While remixes from Tom Staar & Kryder and Promise Land have emphasised the heavy-hitting sound now synonymous with remodels of the Swedish trio, the third and final official remix of Swedish House Mafia’s latest single sees ”Don’t You Worry Child” take a turn for the unexpected, courtesy of enigmatic Dutch producer Joris Voorn.

Despite not quite hitting in on the same epic properties as that of ‘Goodbye Fly‘, the sophisticated stylings of Voorn’s deeper House grooves marks a familiar and inspiring cut from the usually trend-setting Netherlands asset. Donning a substantial Electronic diversion to the original’s emotive synth work, Voorn brings some diversity to the package and rounds off this unexpected assortment of remixers with a soothing Tech House twist.

Release date is yet to be announced.

Update (5/10): Preview of the dub version of the remix is now available.

A pioneer of modern-day tech-house and techno in his own right, Holland’s Joris Voorn continues to impress as he returns to Rejected for the release of his take on Mulder’s latest track, ‘Natural High’.

Already brandishing a total of three appearances on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection, the sophisticated stylings of his deeper House grooves marks a familiar and inspiring cut from the usually trend-setting Netherlands asset turned Rejected head honcho. Donning a substantial Electronic diversion to the Mulder original, this edit may not eclipse that of his acclaimed ‘Goodbye Fly‘ single but is still well worth a listen and purchase, bringing his infectious take on House music to the table once again.

Tom Staar’s recent release off Mau5trap, ‘Home‘, makes its debut on the show ahead of an exclusive showcase of performances from such talented guests as Eats Everything, Maya Jane Coles and Joris Voorn before rounding off this week’s show with Pete Tong back-to-back with the latter.

Amsterdam’s Joris Voorn has never been much for quantity over quality. Furthering this statement, the Holland resident follows up the April release of the long-awaited ‘Goodbye Fly‘ and ‘Spank The Maid’ with another solid addition to his belt. In the same vein as his take on Lana Del Rey’s ‘Video Games‘ earlier this year, Voorn takes on re-editing yet again for a new free giveaway. Hitting the middle-ground between Techno and his signature Tech-House vibes, Voorn adds some oriental oomph to Ronan Portela’s groove-induced remix of Someone Else’s ‘Barbay’ for a slightly improved version which by popular demand is now up for grabs.

Someone Else – Barbay (Ronan Portela Remix – Joris Voorn Edit)

Rejected’s Dusty House series of EPs has easily become one of the most highly adorned Tech House instalments to date. But after a sterling series of offerings from the likes of Nic Fanciulli and Daniell Dubb, the labels ringmaster and enigmatic Dutch club bandit Joris Voorn returns to the driving seat to follow-up the original 2009’s standard setting EP ‘Room 1’. Three-years down the line, Voorn’s impeccable ear for the imperfect House cut remains inherently superior.

Where ‘Spank The Maid’ places an entourage of inspired grooves alongside the all too familiar resonance of Voorn’s decisive vocal sample work, it’s astounding transitions and consistent energy work wonders. Add the sharp riffs and disjointed chords that make up ‘Goodbye Fly’ and Room 6 remains as crucial to the realms of trend-dodging House as its predecessor did several years before.

Update: The previews were taken off Soundcloud, and will re-appear on Joris Voorn’s Soundcloud shortly. Until then, here are some YouTube rips

Goodbye Fly (N.B. The track starts at 1:10 in the video above)

Spank The Maid

Words by Dan Carter

It may have been close to five months since its premiere as the inaugural track of 2012 for club-goers attending Gashouder in Amsterdam to ring in the new year, but the official title of one of Joris Voorn’s most sought-after works to date had not surfaced until recently. First told to be something of a private production for Voorn’s live sets, the track now entitled ‘Goodbye Fly’ sees Voorn bring his A-Game yet again for a downright epic concoction of infectious baselines and an absolutely brilliant top line.

The Rejected head honcho’s productions are known to cause quite a stir amongst tech house heads across the globe, but few have made such a spectacular inauguration into the limelight as ‘Goodbye Fly’. With its carefully crafted drum combinations and overall groovy appeal, ‘Goodbye Fly’ boosts our expectations as far as his studio output in 2012 is concerned further. Add the fact that it’s been told to merely be the B-side of his new EP, and Voorn’s next release might just be his best one yet.

‘Goodbye Fly’ will be released soon on his own Rejected label.

N.B. Track starts at 1:10 in the video above
