As the leader of the Toolroom Records extensive empire, Mark Knight has never been one for short-measures. Anting up for his biggest release since taking Florence and the Machine’s chart-raking adaptation of Candi Staton’s heartfelt original through the motions of crunching House builds, the Toolroom head honcho joins forces with ex-Skunk Anansie mouthpiece turned singer/songwriter Skin for ‘Nothing Matters’.

Having already forged three imminent summer anthems under their profound collaborative guise, Colombian House cartel turned global genre ambassador Erick Morillo and his like minded German peer Eddie Thoneick return to the new year for a highly anticipated fourth round of their undisputed reign on ecstatic EDM cuts. Never a duo to take an agile approach to vocal duties, ex-Skunk Anansie mouthpiece turned singer/songwriter Skin can be found filling the void usually taken by that of Shawnee Taylor for their inaugural outing for 2012. Originally premiered on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection, the familiar key work and rising synth leads that have struck such promising notes for their past exploits are accompanied by Skin’s diversely exotic yet surprisingly convergent melodic stylings to mark a winning formula for the first solid vocal anthem of the new year.

With Subliminal peers Jose Nunez and Harry Romero joining Erick Morillo under their new-forged big room guise of Sympho Nympho, the original is given a further injection of peak time energy and vivacious synth work to mark an invaluable extension of Skin’s induction to the club floor. In a turn for the unexpected, the daring duo ditch the cringe worthy urban crossovers to indulge in a genuinely game changing voice capable of raising the hairs on your back amid what is easily their most distinctive outing to date.

Erick Morillo & Eddie Thoneick feat. Skin – If This Ain’t Love (Sympho Nympho Remix)

Words by Dan Carter

The prolific production duo behind widely renowned offerings such as Live Your Life, Stronger and Nothing Better return to unveil their hotly tipped contender for 2012. Following a certain world premiere on Pete Tong’s prestigious Essential Selection, ‘If This Ain’t Love’ enters the limelight as Erick Morillo and Eddie Thoneick’s fourth single outing to date. Known by their affinity for unprecedented female vocalists, it comes as no surprise that their first single release in 2012 unfolds a structure quite reminiscent of its predecessors. Vocalised by the unremitting voice of Skin, stage name for Deborah Dyer, whom is primarily recognized for playing an essential role in the success and fame of British rock group Skunk Anansie, ‘If This Ain’t Love’ and its quite commercial piano lead and well-crafted baselines along with Skin’s entrancing vocals are all certain to carry the light for another prominent year for Morillo’s own Subliminal imprint.

‘If This Ain’t Love’ is set to release February 14th via Subliminal Records.
