Now in unison with the diverse movements and cultures across the globe, Electronic music has never known more of universal synergy than this day and age. So with blazing stamina and somewhat apt branding, the second instalment of Phazing Records brown-eyed Haitian wonder Michael Brun calls upon rising British producer Special Features to collectively forge ‘Synergy’ for the imprint of Dirty South.

While the blistering chords that drive this exciting follow up to ‘Rise’ fit the Phazing brand of blatant club fuel with little hesitation, it the is the deep emotive energy that drives ‘Synergy’ into a league of its own. Reigning testament to the renowned A&R skills of head honcho Dragan Roganovic, this Haitian/British ensemble oozes 21st century excellence for a genre proving increasingly accessible to such dutiful new school enthusiasm.

Words by Dan Carter

While the word synergy may be synonymous with several things working together in unison, one could not have chosen a more apt title for the next release off Phazing Records, for which Haitian Michael Brun and London-based Special Features combine forces. Having already proven himself a potent label head since the launch of the label in mid 2010, Dirty South’s A&R skills are put to the test again, providing us with a new original on behalf of two young and newly signed Phazing artists.

In a mixture of blistering chords and noteworthy drum combinations, ‘Synergy’ is, as it appears, not your every day record but one that evidently lives up to the Phazing standard. Adding to it’s already summerish appeal, ‘Synergy’ deals in emotional vibes and constructive melodic play to set this Haitian-English duo apart as favourites of the prestigious imprint of Dirty South.

‘Synergy’ will be released on April 18th via Phazing Records.

Having seen his unique, progressive sound grace the likes of Deadmau5′ Strobe and Calvin Harris’ Feel So Close for acclaim amongst such pioneers as Martin Solveig and others, Eden Anderson, better known as Special Features, returns to release his official take on Dada Life’s Happy Violence, which just went victorious out of the recent remix contest hosted by the Swede’s themselves. Reminiscent of his aforementioned offerings in its playful and melodious appeal, the London producer gives the original’s rather hard-lined track a full-blown remix work to emerge as another trademark for the one producer we deem to be blowing up in 2012. Using the near to cacophonic sounding vocal on behalf of Johanna Berglund, known for being a part of the Swedish pop quartet Le Kid, to his utmost advantage, Anderson’s ground-breaking production qualities are screened in the best of ways yet again as another ravishing blend of playful synth chords and infectious baselines comes to light.

The Special Features remix of ‘Happy Violence’ is out now via So Much Dada.

Returning from his impeccable take on Calvin Harris’ Feel So Close single is the London-based Eden Anderson, professionally known as Special Features, to take on one of the most acclaimed tunes off the extensive chronology of Deadmau5Strobe. Building on the holy and spiffy chords of the original, Anderson infuses his signature blend of firm kicks and electro-house and progressive crossing path in the creation of a full-on sweeping progression, slickly assisting the lead synths.

The track that was originally released in 2009 and screened the more emotional production side of Joel Zimmerman has seen countless interpretation over the past two years, but it’s not until now, in late 2011, a high-class club cut and maybe the best one to date reveals itself. With that sensual yet uplifting and hard-hitting evoking euphoria, this is one peerless revamp.

Although Eden Anderson, better known as Special Features, is still in the wait for an official signing, he is certainly showing himself worthy of one as he and his production proficiency gears up for this rapturing rework on a recent single out from Calvin HarrisFeel So Close. Impelling in a way not often shown in the makings from a fairly unknown producer, I’d say the break of this London talent is just a matter of time. Plated with a brilliantly swooshing array of sounds and kicking grooves, the acappella for the Scotsman’s Feel So Close contender converges with the instrumentals on behalf of Anderson to form a set weapon of great magnitude. Taking on the highly-rated Calvin Harris, whom is an accustomed name within electronic dance music from, if not this year’s releases of Bounce and Awooga, the issuing of I’m Not Alone, Flashback and Y0u Used To Hold Me, Special Features hands out free copies of this leviathan take, be sure to get one now!
