It has been many moons since Wolfgang Gartner first enveloped the scene with his tectonic Electro stylings, but amid a year that has seen him circle Electronic music’s most sought after avenues the American club grinder returns to set the record straight with ”Casual Encounters of the 3rd Kind EP.”

Where his studio output has proven as resilient as it is varied for 2012, the EPs two offerings hit close to the roots of Gartner’s heavyset origins. With ‘Girl On Girl’ dipping into the vintage appeal of early House with a strong Electro twist, ‘Girl On Boy’ extends the drive of his familiar grinding chord play with a heavyset twist of sturdy lead work. In spite of speculation that his sound was taking a turn to the calmer shores of Electronic music, Gartner provides a bid towards the less predictable realms of his craft with a double-sided leap forward for the increasingly popular sub genre.

In spite of speculation that his sound was taking a turn to the calmer shores of Electronic music, Gartner provides a heartfelt bid towards the less predictable realms of his craft with a double-sided leap forward for the increasingly popular sub genre.

Between the evocative crossovers and standard setting club stylings, Wolfgang Gartner has remained as unpredictable as he is indispensible to Electronic Dance Music. Having survived two controversial yet inherently successful digressions from his signature studio get-up, the globetrotting chord grinder returns to the adrenaline soaked stylings that have championed his name as America’s most sought after Electro House connoisseur.

Following up ‘Redline‘ with efficient stamina and maximal attitude, ‘Flexx’ replaces its predecessors dynamic synth work with a full-frontal onslaught of defiant low-end club fuel. Between the pitch evading swells and rising lead work, the American producer redeems his unorthodox manoeuvres with a strong return to the tough faced productions that made him one of the industry’s more integral Grammy nominees.

Following two somewhat controversial yet successful digressions from his signature sound, Wolfgang Gartner returns to the sound that has characterized him as one of the most essential contributors to the electro-house scene over the past few years for a new original entitled ‘Flexx’. Fresh off the release of ‘Redline‘, Joseph Youngman’s forthcoming third single mark in 2012 hints of a far heavier approach than its predecessor’s blissful synths. Rife with robust kicks, heavily distorted chords and a voice-sounding lead, ‘Flexx’ proves that despite previous unorthodox Gartner offerings, there is still an affinity for the tougher beats left in this Grammy-nominated American.

‘Flexx’ will be released on June 11th.

After a brief digression into the realms of chart-savvy Electro House, the world was quite well persuaded that Wolfgang Gartner had returned to old habits. But in the latest instalment for his own Kindergarten Recordings, the LA based bronco takes another unexpected turn from his comfort zone.

Ditching the grinding chords and solid low-end chemistry for ‘Redline’, Gartner’s usual entourage is flatlined for a more melodically persuasive garment of Progressive induced chord play far closer to that of his European peers. But proving as masterful outside of his comfort zone, ‘Redline’ remains as energetic under the guise of this new studio ensemble and suggests a sudden yet persuasive turn to the softer shores of Electronic Dance Music from here onwards.

Rising American producer and general enthusiast of the bootleg Jonathan Paulsen is far from a made man within Dance music, but under the guise of his PrototypeRaptor moniker a new bootleg has emerged to show that unsolicited remixes can still be promising. Turning his focus to influential Electro peer Wolfgang Gartner’s ‘Push and Rise’, Paulsen is darker, grittier and positively evasive of the originals softer hallmarks. Where the originals well-oiled chord play proves a positive starting point, the mechanical precision and undisputable quality to which this bootleg serves is a promising sign that amid the chaos and commercial entities, there are still some strong talents to be discovered on the American shores.

From Euphoric Trance to coming-of-age Electro, Tiësto has bent his scope on genres with little sign of remorse. Preparing to celebrate the second installment of his Club Life compilation series, Canadian Electro House connoisseur Wolfgang Gartner joins the Dutch superstar for ‘We Own The Night’. Where both respective producers have shown their more mainstream feathers over the past year, ‘We Own The Night’ deals in a familiar yet overtly powerful amalgamation of both producers studio dexterity.

Add the unique topline of Luciana to this potent injection of mechanically tuned House music with a subtle Electro edge and it is easy to see why this is one of the more highly anticipated offerings on Tiësto’s next Club Life installment. Pitching in ahead of recently premiered collaboration with Swanky Tunes and his remix of The Naked & Famous’ ‘Young Blood’ alongside Hardwell and his Miami extension of the Club Life Brand promises to be one of his hottest moments for 2012.

Swedish Indie-Pop spectacle Miike Snow have not been left out of their country’s rich Electronic resurgence, as aptly proven with the formidable array of remixers at hand for their latest release ‘Paddling Out’. Never one to bow to weights of pop-induced pressure, American Electo monger Wolfgang Gartner is as on-task as always for his own remodel of ‘Paddling out’. Drawing on vintage keys and rising melodics from the outset, his low-end orientated romp may not carry the hallmarks of his usual Electro tinged output, but its vicious energy is a worthy addition to this package. At a time where his craft has never been more popular, its seamless integration into the realms of Pop music make for promising noise for Electronic music and its universal capabilities.

Seething hot off a slight deviation from his regularly ferocious sound in the release of ‘There and Back‘, Joseph Youngman is back in true Wolfgang Gartner fashion, continuing to carve his fierce signature sound while being brought in as one of a select few for a game-changing remix treatment on one of the singles off Miike Snow’s forthcoming second studio album. Having seen it’s world premiere on Pete Tong’s increasingly popular Essential Selection on Friday, the Grammy nominated American’s latest remix duty reflects further on his undeniable production dynamics as it’s versatile structure gives us reasons to believe this will face more than just a first play on the globe’s most prestigious EDM radio show. Borrowing heavily from the original’s captivating instrumentals and Andrew Wyatt’s soulful voice, Gartner adds a somewhat melodic and filthy electro-house progression for what is looking to be another essential mark on clubland on Youngman’s behalf.

The remixes of ‘Paddling Out’ are released March 11th via Sony Music.
