Fast approaching the end of a year that has given rise to the production dexterity of Phunk Investigation, the Italian duo return to Olav Basoski’s Spinnin’ offshoot Work Records alongside Dino Lenny for the release of ‘Relax.’ Borrowing the lyrics from Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s 1983 hit with the same name and showcasing deep grooves and churning bass manoeuvres throughout, Phunk Investigation provide yet another prime example of why traditional House is still worth pursuing amid the somewhat stateside biased 21st century Electronic music explosion.

Out now on Beatport.

Fresh on the scene for 2012, the mysterious German duo known only as Kairo Kingdom have certainly mixed things up for a scene drenched in predictable club stylings. But where their recent EP for Lazy Rich’s Big Fish Recordings made yet more promising noise for the Frankfurt genre-benders, their latest outing for Spinnin offshoot Work Records adds positive light to their music over matter approach.

Brushed with distressed vocal samples and a distinct set of grinding chord progressions, ‘Come Closer’ sits somewhere between the realms of Indie Pop and Electro House House with little sign of resting too heavily upon the prior’s hallmarks. While it’s apex may fall on the heavyset grinding and melodic manipulation, Kairo Kingdom ditch the tedium to don a whacky yet substantially persuasive outing that is sure to take their mysterious grandeur to a new high.

Well-reputed from taking part in the glorious collaborations with Avicii, My Feelings For You and Snus, Sebastien Drums teams up with Rob Adans for an enacting of the old-school House grooves. Not only is the owner of Work Machine topical with a forthcoming instalment on Erick Morillo’s Subliminal Records but also Party Now alongside Richard Grey. As Adans is cutting deep into the scene with the Abash single on the rise, the two Frenchmen follows up on their remix for Faking Love with a catchy remix on Let’s Get It On, originally made by Sharam Jey and Soundz Fresh.
